As products get smaller and smaller, the demand for compact actuators continues to increase. At Actuonix, we're constantly challenging ourselves to build more compact actuators to meet the evolving needs of our clients. With that said, we'd like to introduce you to our new L8 Series actuators. The L8 is a completely new design from the ground up and features a super slim profile and delivers impressive power. It is the smallest actuator we have ever built and is ideal for compact applications and tight integrations. Applications that require multiple actuators in a small space are ideal for the L8's thin profile.
No matter your application needs, L8 series micro linear actuators from Actuonix will deliver exceptional, compact performance. Their design offers strength and efficiency for engineers and designers looking for precise motion control in space-constrained environments. Our L8 line of actuators is available in a variety of configurations to suit the requirements of your design.
Customers can select from multiple stroke lengths: 10mm, 25mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm. This variety ensures that our off-the-shelf L8 linear actuators can meet the requirements of most projects. In addition to stroke length, L8 actuators are available in several force and speed combinations to ensure that no matter what you're trying to accomplish, the L8 will deliver the smooth linear motion to get the job done. This flexibility allows for accurate control over the motion and force, making the L8 series micro linear actuators an ideal choice for integration into a variety of products and applications.
L8 series actuators will be available with several different control options:
Each model in our S-Series L8 linear actuators is equipped with end-limit switches. These switches automatically shut off the unit if it reaches its maximum extension or retraction. Operating these units is straightforward: simply apply appropriate power to the leads on the actuator to extend, and switch the polarity on the leads to retract. They are compatible with various control methods, including a DPDT switch, button kit, relay or brushed DC motor controller.
The L8 actuator will soon be available as an R-Series model. R functionality is achieved by pairing an L8-P actuator with our External R board. The board effectively makes the actuator an R model, enabling RC-style control with built-in positioning.
P-Series L8 linear actuators will be designed without an integrated controller. However, they will provide an analog position feedback signal for use with an external controller. These actuators are ideally paired with our Linear Actuator Control Board (LAC), enabling control through various methods, including USB (using our Configuration Utility Software), 0-5V, 4-20mA, RC Servo or PWM. The LAC also provides on-board options for adjusting speed, sensitivity, stroke limits and stall protection features.

Below we address some of the most common questions that we receive about our new L8 line of micro linear actuators. Please read through this FAQ carefully before reaching out to our sales team with questions.
The L8 is available with five different stroke options, whereas the PQ12 only has a 20mm stroke. Additionally, the PQ12 is thicker than the L8, and is not available with the same gear or control options.
Selecting the right L8 linear actuator involves considering your application's stroke length, force, voltage, and control requirements. We have developed a tool to help you with this. Our actuator selector tool will narrow down your options based on your criteria.
