The P16 line is the next generation of powerful mini actuators from Actuonix Motion Devices. Developed to meet the ever growing demand for smaller and more powerful miniature actuators, the P16 strikes a balance between compact size and high power. Featuring a compact side by side design with a planetary gearbox, these units offer higher speeds, higher forces and longer life than our other units.
No matter your application needs, P16 series mini linear actuators from Actuonix stand ready to deliver exceptional performance. Their design offers an ideal combination of strength and efficiency for engineers and designers looking for precise motion control in space-constrained environments. The P16 line offers a variety of configurations to meet your specifications.
We pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of off the shelf products to suit our client's specifications, and the P16 is no exception. Customers can select from four distinct stroke lengths: 50mm (2 inches), 100mm (3.9 inches), 150mm (5.9 inches) and 200mm (7.9 inches). This variety ensures that our P16 mini linear actuators can be perfectly tailored to fit diverse application needs. In addition to stroke length, P16 actuators are available in three force and speed combinations, featuring 22:1, 64:1 or 256:1 gearing. This variety allows users to select an off the shelf product that will work for their application.
P16 series actuators are available with three different control options:
Each P16-S series actuator is equipped with end of limit switches. These switches automatically shut off the unit if it reaches its maximum extension or retraction. Operating these actuators is straightforward: simply reverse the polarity on the actuator's two leads. They are compatible with various control methods, including a DPDT switch, relay or brushed DC motor controller.
P-Series P16 mini linear actuators are designed without an integrated controller. However, they provide an analog position feedback signal with an external controller. These actuators were designed for use with our Linear Actuator Control Board (LAC), enabling control through various methods, including USB (using our Configuration Utility Software), 0-5v, 4-20mA, RC Servo or PWM. The LAC also provides on-board options for adjusting speed, sensitivity and stroke limits, including stall protection features.
The R-Series P16 is actually a P16-P model paired with our External RC Control Board. This combination functions exactly as any of our other R-Series liner servos. This combination seamlessly integrates with most RC receivers, offering plug-and-play compatibility. Moreover, these units are fully operational with Arduino, utilizing the Arduino servo library for control. The P16-R requires an external power supply for operation.

P16 actuators are strong, and are ideal for miniature heavy-duty applications where the load is less than 300N. For higher loads than this, you can use multiple P16 actuators together to achieve higher force.
Yes, there are options available to you for synchronization. For more info on synchronizing atuators, check out this article on our blog. to find an appropriate product or contact our sales staff for assistance.
This is an impossible question to answer as there are dozens of factors that affect actuator lifespan including load, side load, duty cycle, input voltage and environmental conditions just to name a few. We encourage our customers to do their own testing to evaluate the lifespan of their particular application.
