P8-ST Series Micro Stepper Actuators
The P8-ST are the stepper variant of our popular P8 line. The brushless stepper design makes the P8-ST one of our longest life actuators. It is also ideal for applications that require high precision in a compact format. The P8 stepper is designed to push or pull a load axially along its full stroke length. The speed of travel is determined by the step frequency, and maximum force by the current applied. When power is removed the actuator will hold its position, unless the applied load exceeds the back drive force. Actuators should be tested in each specific application to determine their effective life under those loading conditions and environment.

The Pololu Tic family of stepper motor controllers makes it easy to add basic control of a bipolar stepper motor to a variety of projects. These versatile, general-purpose modules support six different control interfaces USB for direct connection to a computer, TTL serial and IC for use with a microcontroller, RC hobby servo pulses for use in an RC system, analog voltages for use with a potentiometer or analog joystick, and quadrature encoder for use with a rotary encoder dial.

Is the P8 smaller than the PQ12?
Yes, though it depends on how you measure it. The P8 is both narrower and shorter than the PQ12, while being slightly taller. These measurements do not account for the P8 series having an external shaft, which comes in different sizes depending on stroke length.
What is the maximum duty cycle of the P8-ST?
The P8-ST series has a rated duty cycle of 100%.
Can I change the end tip on a P8 actuator?
To make the P8 as compact as possible, the end tip has been integrated into the shaft itself. It is not a replaceable part.
Can I order a custom P8-ST?
Yes you can. If your needs can not be met by one of our off the shelf products, we can work with you to develop and custom linear actuator solution. MOQ will depend on the level of customization required.
