What We Brought to the Booth
One of the standout demonstrations at our booth was an Alt-Bionics robotic hand powered by Actuonix PQ12 actuators. It consistently drew attention and gave visitors a clear demonstration of how much force and precision can be achieved in a very compact form factor.
We also had several Stewart platforms on display using P8 and S20 actuators, along with a range of other actuator models in different stroke lengths. These demos helped open useful conversations around selecting the right actuator configuration based on motion profile, packaging constraints, and application-specific requirements.
What People Were Asking About
Drone and UAV applications were the most common topic throughout the event. We spoke with developers working on variable pitch propellers, landing gear retraction, payload deployment, and even a drone trigger mechanism using an Actuonix L16 actuator. Our L12 and L16 product lines came up repeatedly, with visitors asking about stock availability, feedback options, and custom features such as metal housings and locking lead screws.
The P8 stepper line also received strong interest, particularly from teams developing 3D printer components and other systems requiring tighter positional control. Stewart platforms were another recurring discussion point, with multiple visitors asking about platform configurations and actuator combinations suited to different scales and payload requirements.
We also connected with a research group interested in actuator use across drone wings and landing gear, as well as university-affiliated teams working on autonomous marine systems and other advanced research applications. Life sciences emerged as another area of interest, with one contact specifically exploring the range of applications Actuonix supports in that sector.
How the Show Felt Overall
XPONENTIAL Europe had a noticeably strong technical focus this year. Many of the companies we met were beyond the early concept stage and asking more precise questions about specifications, customization, lead times, and system-level integration. The conversations reflected a market that is maturing and becoming more demanding in its engineering expectations.
We had productive discussions with a mix of drone startups, defense adjacent developers, research institutions, and engineering teams evaluating real world implementation constraints. Demo kits were sent out to several contacts during the show, which is often a good sign that interest is moving toward active development.
The event also reinforced the value of face-to-face conversations. Many of the details discussed at the booth, including specific constraints, application challenges, and feasibility questions, are much easier to work through in person than over email.
